A stretch of North Canterbury’s State Highway 7 is getting a $3.5 million safety upgrade, says the NZ Transport Agency. The upgrade will include safety barriers to help stop people dying or being seriously injured in a crash, and rumble strips to give drivers a wake-up call if they stray outside their lane.
The NZ Transport Agency is closing Greymouth’s Marlborough St/ High St (State Highway 6) intersection this Thursday and Friday nights so contractors Tru-Line Civil can complete work on the new roundabout.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising the two southbound lanes and a footpath on State Highway 1 (south of Newlands) through the Ngauranga Gorge will be temporarily closed today at 12:30 to allow crews to clear up a small amount of material and install concrete barrier protection.
Changes to the lane layout for northbound traffic through the Southern Corridor at Takanini will now go ahead on Thursday night and be in place for Friday morning commuters. The changes were postponed earlier this week because of bad weather.
