The NZ Transport Agency has been checking all state highways in Canterbury and the West Coast for any damage after this morning’s 6.4 earthquake north of Methven and aftershocks in the Arthur’s Pass area.
State Highway 12 through Waipoua Forest will be closed to all heavy vehicles this Saturday (10 January) to enable the NZ Transport Agency to investigate ground conditions where a section of the highway has slipped into the river below.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that the Auckland Harbour Bridge will be reopened to full capacity on Monday morning, three days ahead of schedule.
