The NZ Transport Agency is asking motorists to take extra care and allow more time for their journeys on Canterbury highways during the next few weeks as work is completed on a number of bridge repair and road works projects.
Work will begin next week (16 March) to repair the 70-metre section of State Highway 1, south of Kawakawa, where flooding last July caused a significant slip, closing the highway for seven days and requiring a temporary route to be built.
The Ernie Pinches footbridge spanning Auckland’s Southwestern Motorway (State Highway 20) at Mt Roskill has re-opened. It was closed for four months for work linked to the nearby Waterview Connection project.
Following its successful implementation in Auckland, the new online high productivity motor vehicle (HPMV) permitting system will be rolled out by the NZ Transport Agency nationwide. This will enable all HPMV operators to apply for their permits online from mid-March 2015.
