North Canterbury drivers who use the Tram Road/SH1 intersection just north of the Waimakariri River will see major changes underway to make the off-ramp safer for all road users from early next year, says NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
It is now safer for pedestrians and cyclists to use the Hewletts Road railway pedestrian level crossing, following the completion of safety improvements at the busy intersection.
Work to install a new clip-on shared path across Waikanae Bridge will get underway early in the new year, with 16 January set as the start date for construction.
