Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that road works on State Highway 2 (SH2) near the Bayfair roundabout planned for Sunday 21 August are expected to cause delays.
With many areas of the motu experiencing significant rainfall, and with more expected to fall over the coming week, contractors are keeping a close eye on conditions to ensure the state highway network remains safe and accessible.
Waka Kotahi contractors are continuing to make excellent progress on repair work at the dropout site on State Highway 5 between Te Haroto and Tarawera, with work having progressed quicker than expected and contractors ahead of the expected programme.
During August there will be a number of changes around Bayfair roundabout and Bayfair Shopping Centre, as construction ramps up in the area as part of the Bay Link project.
State Highway 1 will close between Rangipo and Waiouru later this week, to allow the completion of surfacing works to resolve a number of areas that have deteriorated significantly over the winter period.
State Highway 2, from the northern entry to the Waioeka Gorge through to Matawai, will be closed from 7am to 4pm Wednesday 3 August to complete remedial work at two slip sites.
