The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. State Highway 1 has remained closed all day after being closed earlier this week after rain and subsequent rockfall near the slips between Peketa and Goose Bay, south of Kaikoura.

The NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 25 near Whangamata, Whiritoa and Tairua will stay closed overnight and much of tomorrow while flooding and slips are cleared.
State Highway 1 is closed south of Kaikoura between Peketa and Goose Bay due to the wet weather and rockfalls in several places. Drivers wanting to head to or from Kaikoura should use the Inland Road (Route 70) via Waiau. The aim is to reopen to daytime traffic on Thursday however, we will update mid this afternoon. The normal open hours for the highway are 6 am to 8 pm daily.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising road users that the Manawatū Gorge Road, State Highway 3 will be closed from 10am today for approximately two hours to allow a large rock to be cleared.
State Highway 1 south of Kaikoura closed after 11 am today due to wet weather and subsequent increased rockfall risk for drivers travelling between Peketa and Goose Bay.
