Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday, 30 June 2023.
Drivers travelling in the top of the South Island need to take care on the roads with weather watches in place for Marlborough and the Tasman Ranges west of Motueka.
State Highway 35 between Okitu, north of Gisborne and Ruatoria has been closed following surface flooding along the highway and a heavy rain warning in place.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that a full closure on State Highway 1 (SH1) in both directions will be in place between Drury and Papakura from 9pm to 5am tonight.
SH1 Theodosia St through Timaru around the polytechnic between North and Arthurs Sts, is currently closed with police responding to a threat and cordons in place.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises the Pekatahi Bridge, located north of Taneatua on State Highway 2, will close daily for structural maintenance between Monday 3 July and Thursday 6 July.
Waka Kotahi is advising motorists in south Auckland to plan ahead, with a two and a half month full closure (24/7) of the Southern Motorway (SH1) Papakura southbound loop on-ramp. A full closure of the extreme right turn lane at the Papakura southbound off-ramp will also be in place for two months.
