A slip overnight following heavy rain has closed a stretch of State Highway 2 between Nuhaka and Mōrere, north of Wairoa, in the early hours of this morning.
State Highway 25 will re-open from 3.30pm this afternoon to allow road users to travel past the Ruamahunga slip site, however the road will close again from 5.30pm.
Despite contractors making good progress clearing today’s slip at Ruamahunga – geotech engineers advise it is not safe to reopen State Highway 25 today.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists of upcoming works on State Highway 10, near Awanui from Monday 3 to Friday 7 July from 8am to 6pm.
