As part of Stage 1A of the SH1 Papakura to Drury project, all new lanes on SH1 between Papakura interchange and the motorway service centre south of Park Estate Road bridge are now fully open.
The NZ Transport Agency Board has confirmed that further median barrier work will no longer proceed on the remaining two sections of State Highway 2 between Waihī and Ōmokoroa, following a review of the scope of the safety improvements project in this area, NZTA Chief Executive Nicole Rosie says.
The SH73 route between the West Coast and Canterbury was closed around 1am this morning when heavy rain brought more rocks and material onto the highway at the western side of the rock shelter, near the Otira viaduct.
