The NZ Transport Agency is opening the second lane temporarily on the new Punganui Stream Bridge on State Highway 16 north of Helensville this afternoon to provide safer and smoother travel on the rural highway during the Christmas/New year holiday break.
The collective efforts of a Christchurch historic train enthusiast and the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) should lead to the restoration of two dilapidated heritage rail cabins found near the construction site of the Christchurch Southern Motorway.
The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers that there will be extended overnight closures of the southbound lanes of Auckland's Southern Motorway (State Highway 1) between Market Rd and the Greenlane interchange over the New Year holiday weekend. One northbound lane of the motorway will also be closed at the same time.
Traffic volumes using the Northern Gateway Toll Road are expected to rise dramatically during the Christmas/New Year holiday, and the NZ Transport Agency is reminding drivers that they can avoid delays from queuing at kiosks if they pay their tolls before or after they use the highway.
The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers that the Tristram Ave Off Ramp, northbound, on the northern motorway (SH1) will be closed on the evening of Thursday 16 December, for essential surfacing work. The work will be carried out between 10pm and 5am.
The NZ Transport Agency is reminding motorists that ramp signals will be operating at the connection of the Southwestern and Southern motorways [State Highways 20 and 1] at Manukau in south Auckland from today [Monday 13 December] to improve traffic flows and driver safety.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 8pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday 17 December.
