NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday, 24 January 2025. Please note this Traffic Bulletin is updated every Friday.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi advises essential maintenance and improvement work on State Highway 16 (SH16) in the Port area will begin on Sunday 19 January and continue through to April 2025.
UPDATE 16 January: Forecast bad weather means night closures due to begin on State Highway 2 Masterton to Carterton this Sunday (19 January) will no longer proceed as planned.
People travelling on SH2 through Petone, need to prepare for several night-time road closures next week, weather permitting. Detours will be available through Lower Hutt.
UPDATE 15 January: An extra night of resurfacing work has been scheduled on the Wellington Urban Motorway between the Aotea Quay onramp and the Ngauranga Interchange.
Work has restarted at Tāngarākau Gorge, following the Christmas holiday shutdown, as crews continue sealing the final 1.5 kilometres of State Highway 43.
A reminder for State Highway 1 (SH1) road users that SH1 at Karāpiro, south of Cambridge, will be closed for 4 days in January for maintenance and repair work.
