Purpose

  1. The purpose of this report is to seek the Board's approval to invest in the detailed design and construction of the NZ Transport Agency's Hairini Link Stage 4 project in the Bay of Plenty region.
  2. This funding decision has been escalated to the Board because planned changes to the network function means the project is outside the current funding threshold.

Resolutions

The NZ Transport Agency Board approved $68 million for the detailed design and construction associated with the NZTA's SH29 Hairini Link Stage 4 project in Tauranga.

Reason for the decision

The assessment profile for this activity has been determined as being of Medium strategic fit, High effectiveness and Medium economic efficiency.

The project will contribute to economic development and safety by addressing congestion, improving journey time reliability on a key route, and creating a safer operating environment.

We confirm that the matters in sections 20(2) and 20 (5) of the LTMA have been satisfied, and that the matters in section 20(3) have been taken into account.
