Investment partners are required to use the Business Case Approach (BCA) when developing their business cases for the NLTP. We’ve developed training and guidance to help you apply the BCA.
Two new resources have recently been added to the suite of online guidance:
The BCA is flexible, with no one-size-fits-all development path. To help you identify the appropriate development path through the BCA, we’ve developed the BCA Q&A tool. This tool guides you through a series of questions about factors such as risk and complexity. Based on your answers, it makes a suggestion to help you think critically about what the next phase will be for your business case.
We’re keen to receive your feedback about the tool to know if it’s been useful. Please leave a comment at the end of the questions. Use the BCA Q&A tool or go to the BCA guidance to see what else is available.
We’ve just released a new BCA learning module on Learning Zone: Activity-level business cases. This module discusses key considerations for developing a business case at the activity level, including the single-stage business case, indicative business case or detailed business case phases. Go to the learning module(external link)
If you have a question about the BCA guidance or learning, please use our online contact and support form. If you don’t have access to the modules, email nltp@nzta.govt.nz with your name, title, organisation and manager’s name – we’ll arrange access for you.
We trust you’ll find these new resources useful in developing your business cases.
