Introduction

Work category 111 provides for the routine care of sealed pavements to maintain their structural integrity and serviceability.

Qualifying activities

Work category 111 is available to the road maintenance activity classes:

  • local road maintenance
  • state highway maintenance

Local road and state highway maintenance

Examples of qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:

  • pavement dig-outs, patching and pothole repairs
  • pre-reseal repairs
  • unsealed shoulder maintenance on sealed roads
  • the approved organisation’s or the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency (for its own activities) share of pavement maintenance at railway level crossings together with any associated servicing fee
  • protective covering over the road where stock cross at grade
  • road protection against stock damage.

You can discuss with us (Waka Kotahi as investor) whether other potential activities not listed above might also be eligible for inclusion in this work category.

Exclusions

Work category 111 has no identified exclusions.

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate (FAR) is:

Submitting activities for National Land Transport Programme (NLTP) consideration and funding approval

Approved organisations and Waka Kotahi (for its own activities) submit their sealed pavement maintenance activities for NLTP consideration and funding approval using the maintenance, operations and renewals module in Transport Investment Online.

Programme management

The management of the maintenance programme is delegated to approved organisations and Waka Kotahi (for its own activities). This includes the transfer of funding between work categories within the activity class.
