The Transport Agency manages this programme and purchases research from external researchers.

    Examples of qualifying activities

    Examples of qualifying activities include but may not be limited to:

    • directed research (proposals requested by the Transport Agency);
    • Austroads Research;
    • management of the research programme.

Development of the sector research programme

Information on the Transport Agency's research programme is provided on the Transport Agency’s website (How we invest in sector research).

Funding assistance rate

Sector research is a Transport Agency nationally delivered programme of activities, funded 100% from the National Land Transport Fund.

Funding to the work category is approved for the three years of the National Land Transport Programme (NLTP) when the NLTP is adopted by the Transport Agency Board.

The funding request is entered into Transport Investment Online through the Improvement activity module.
