Introduction

This work category provides for Approved Organisations to share the costs associated with the maintenance and renewal of rail level crossing warning devices carried out by the relevant rail track authority.

This page relates to the 2012-15 NLTP only. 

Qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities incorporates:

  • activities included in a list of priority works provided by the relevant rail track authority to the Transport Agency:
    • only work that is on the priority list is eligible for funding assistance.
    • an invoice from the relevant rail track authority must back up claims.

Funding assistance rate (FAR)

The relevant rail track authority and the Approved Organisation share equally the cost of installation and maintenance of crossing alarms and barriers.

Where, under a deed of grant by the relevant rail track authority, an Approved Organisation is required to pay the full cost, this cost is accepted for funding assistance.

The usual funding assistance rate is:

  • 100% of the Approved Organisation’s share of the costs
