NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi advises that work to install new weigh-in-motion (WIM) equipment on Great South Road, Bombay will begin Wednesday 26 November 2025 as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Programme (CVSP).

Weigh plates and an electronic sign (VMS) will be installed at two locations on Great South Road leading up to State Highway 1 (SH1) Bombay interchange.  The locations are:

  • Weigh plate installation near 1823 Great South Road
  • Electronic sign (VMS) installation near 1940 Great South Road

Work is scheduled to finish early February 2026 and will mostly be carried out during the daytime (Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm) under lane restrictions.

Traffic management will be in place to assist vehicle access to any affected properties.

This work is part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Programme, which supports the design of a safe and productive land transport system and creates a level playing field for the heavy vehicle industry. To find out more go to:
