We are rebuilding sections of State Highway 2 in the Wairarapa because the road has reached the end of its pavement life and is in poor structural condition. We need to complete a deep rebuild of the sections with the poorest conditions along SH2, as regular resurfacing cannot fix the deep-seated pavement deterioration issues. Learn more about the road rebuild process here.
WTA has rebuilt several sections of State Highway 2 through the Wairarapa and has laid more than 11,000 tonnes of asphalt. The rebuilt sections of State Highway 2 are now more resilient and require less frequent maintenance.
When rebuilding the road, our team works 24/7 and divides each worksite into smaller sections. This means we can complete the rebuild quicker and resident access impacts are as short as possible.
