We are working with KiwiRail to progress this project that involves constructing an additional northbound lane from Ellerslie–Panmure Highway on-ramp to just after the main highway overbridge. This will help to ease congestion by increasing the northbound section to four lanes.
This section of motorway will be widened from three to four lanes northbound. The project is due to start in November 2014 and be completed March 2016.
Stage one included the successful upgrade of the Ellerslie Train Station and relocation of the main highway overbridge piers.
Motorway capacity increased from three to four lanes.
Improved electronic motorway signage and new motorway lighting.
Relocation of remaining utility services and motorway stormwater drainage.
