Vehicle emissions prediction model (VEPM 6. 0) user guide v3. 0 - July 2019. The Transport Agency has prepared a Vehicle emissions prediction model (VEPM) user guide which describes the modelling process and the background for the VEPM method. The VEPM user guide and a summary of the development of VEPM are provided on the Vehicle emissions predicition model information page. Additional supporting technical information can be found in the research reports which are referenced from the user guide.

Guideline for preparing an environmental and social management plan

This guide is primarily aimed to assist state highway project and contract managers and their contractors and consultants on the requirements of an ESMP. The guide sets out the framework for integrating an environmental management system with the overall contract quality system and with the multitude of sub management plans that are required to ensure steps are in place to meet our legal obligations and manage risk. HNO environmental and social responsibility manual

In order to ensure value for money and consistent impact mitigation across the national network, the Environment and Urban Design Team works closely with project managers to collect best practices, identify relevant international trends, develop New Zealand specific standards and guidelines, disseminate information and continuously improved service delivery. The HNO environmental and social responsibility manual is a collection of standards, guidelines, tools and references applicable to all capital works and maintenance operations. This manual supersedes the previous Environmental policy manual. This manual and manual management plan make operable the NZ Transport Agency Environmental and Social Responsibility Policy. It sets out the NZ Transport Agency environmental and social responsibility policies, plans standards, guidelines, tools and templates that are to be used, when applicable, as referenced in our contracts prepared under SMO30, SMO31 and SMO32.

Erosion and sediment control guidelines for state highway infrastructure

The guidelines have been developed to assist roading practitioners with the selection and design of erosion and sediment control practices. The guidelines demonstrate our commitment to lowering environmental impacts, social and environmental responsibility, and improving the contributions of state highways to the wellbeing of New Zealand. The inspection forms are designed to provide guidance on how to implement erosion and sediment control practices on the ground. The guideline covers:

promotion and use of appropriate design methods
development and application of practices that minimise the risk of erosion and sediment deposition Implementation of erosion and sediment control measures
identification of risk and problem areas
use of best-practice methods unique to each situation to ensure effectiveness
early identification of new projects that have a higher risk of erosion Support for new techniques and methodologies
consultation with local authorities, and
protection of sensitive receiving environments.

A methodology for identifying environmental risks for bridge maintenance

The Guideline for preparing an environmental and social management plan details the minimum requirements for all NZ Transport Agency environmental and social management plans (ESMP). This methodology provides additional specific information for developing an ESMP for a bridge management contract.
