Published: | Category: Construction , Asphalt , Specifications | Audiences: Road controlling authorities, Road traffic engineers & consultants, Roading contractors

The T23 method for the estimation of the density of compacted aggregate layers by direct transmission is used to quantify the vertical uniformity of aggregate compacted in a pavement layer. It is particularly applicable to aggregates stabilised in-situ in accordance with NZTA B05 specification.

The areas covered by the method include:

  • apparatus required
  • testing procedure
  • calculation of the estimated density for subsurface layers
  • reporting requirements.

T23 is a new specification.
