Environment and sustainability in our operations

The environment is important to us. We follow environmental and sustainability policies, standards, specifications and guidance to ensure the work we do meets Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s environmental and sustainability requirements, and policy and legislative requirements. Project managers, network teams, planners and others operating on our behalf all play an essential part in delivering land transport infrastructure that is safe and socially and environmentally responsible.

The requirements and guidance in this section must be followed in all Waka Kotahi land transport infrastructure capital projects, operations and maintenance, and we encourage approved organisations to follow them for activities funded by the National Land Transport Fund (NLTF) or which receive funding administered by Waka Kotahi.

This section provides operational information for project teams, but for more general information about how Waka Kotahi protects the environment, and our high-level strategies and policies, visit our pages on environment and social responsibility.
