Across the Cycle Network Guidance there are a number of technical notes, design guidance notes and tools to help planners, engineers and designers to create high quality cycling infrastructure.
Technical notes incorporate both points of law and current best practice specifications from national (including Austroads) and international sources, to give direction to the user as to how to design specific and more complex facilities in a New Zealand context and within New Zealand rules. They document progress made with relation to the design of specific facility types after learning from implementing cycle infrastructure.
Design guidance notes summarise the planning and design of specific elements of the cycle network such as signs and markings, cycle parking and access control devices.
Tools assist in comparing and assessing different facility types.
