The New Zealand Public Transport Design Guidance (PTDG) supports regional and local councils to deliver high-quality, people-focused public transport.

The draft guidance for the following sections is now available:

  • Bus dimensions for design
  • Corridor clearance
  • Bus layover and driver facilities
  • Getting to and from public transport
  • Bus stop
  • Priority and optimisation
  • Battery electric bus charging infrastructure
  • Interchanges and stations

We will keep these sections in draft for several months while we seek feedback on the guidance. This feedback will be used to revise the draft guidance and then eventually finalise and ratify it.

You can give us your feedback by taking our short survey here:

We also welcome any recommendations for case studies.

Additional sections of guidance are in development and will be released as available. Note that all topics will initially be released as draft for feedback before being finalised.
