Activity Classes for the 2015-18 NLTP

 

Purpose

The purpose of the classification of activities is to:

  • ensure conformity of the National Land Transport Programme Interrelated and complementary combination of activities that, when delivered in a coordinated manner, produce synergies – can span more than one work category and more than one activity class, e.g. a programme could include a road improvement and public transport improvement activities.   • identify activities that are eligible for funding from the National Land Transport Fund and from funds the Transport Agency is managing on behalf of the Government
  • provide a basis for comparing transport costs over time and between organisations.

Activities are classified into work categories, which are then organised into activity classes. Work categories are defined in a practical way so that minor operations, maintenance or renewal activities are sometimes included in other work categories to facilitate efficient assessment, programming and delivery of activities.
