This specification and accompanying guidance notes set out the requirements for high performance roadmarkings for road safety. This specification applies to specialised pavement markings installed on roads with a traffic volume of > 5,000 v/day and where a traffic safety strategy has identified the need for improved delineation.

This specification and guidance notes apply to the reflectorised and non-reflectorised marking of sealed and paved road surfaces in paint, thermoplastic and other types of roadmarking materials. Thermoplastic application is limited to machine screeding, machine spray and machine extrusion. Paint shall be applied by machine spray methods only.
