High speed data collection programmes

High-speed data collection programmes at NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) are used to assess and monitor the condition of New Zealand's road network.

SCRIM+ survey programme

The SCRIM+ survey measures how slippery New Zealand’s roads are to improve safety. A high-speed vehicle checks road grip and surface texture while driving, helping NZTA identify risk areas, plan maintenance, and prevent crashes. The data also helps quickly address any road issues.

iPAVE survey programme

Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicle (iPAVE) uses deflection measurement, LiDAR, ground-penetrating radar, and cameras to assess road conditions. The data information collected will help determine where to spend on maintenance repairs.
