Speed Limit review on SH1, Motutere, Lake Taupō, Waikato consultation

We consulted on a proposal to set a lower speed limit of 60km/h on a 0.85km section of SH1 at Motutere currently set at 100km/h after strong community feedback.​

Old SH1 Peka Peka to Ōtaki speed limit consultation

We’re proposing new lower speed limits for sections of old SH1 in Te Horo and Ōtaki. We sought public feedback on the proposed speed limit changes in Te Horo and Ōtaki on old SH1, including any local factors we should consider. Your input will help inform the final decision under the Setting of Speed Limits Rule 2024.

SH3 Hāwera north speed limit review

We’re proposing a 60 km/h speed limit on State Highway 3 (SH3) from north of Kerry Road to north of Fantham Street in Hāwera. The speed limit on this section is currently a mix of 70km/h and 100km/h. We sought your feedback on the proposal and on any local factors that should be taken into account.

Decision-led approach to project development – feedback from users

The draft guidance for NZTA‘s Decision-led approach to project development was published on 9 September 2025. We sought feedback from consultants who’ve already piloted the approach on recent investment cases for infrastructure projects so that we can further refine the document before we publish the final guidance.

SH3 Waiwhakaiho speed limit review

We sought public feedback on a proposal to reduce the 80km/h speed limit on State Highway 3 (SH3), from north of Vickers Road to east of the Egmont Road intersection in Waiwhakaiho, to 60km/h to improve safety. This will extend the existing 60km/h speed limit further north of New Plymouth.

Speed Limit reviews, Waikato

We consulted on some state highway locations on the Coromandel Peninsula (SH25), Waihī and Karangahake (SH2), variable speed limits outside 2 marae on SH27 and SH29 and an Intersection Speed Zone (ISZ) near Hamilton Airport (SH21 / Raynes Road) in the Waikato region, as part of a proposal to set lower speed limits that have been requested by the community​.

Exemptions for NB class vehicles – towbar certification and logbooks

The Director of Land Transport is proposing two exemptions for class NB (medium goods) vehicles that have a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 3700kg or less – one for towbar certification and the other for driver logbook requirements. We sought your views on these proposed exemptions.

SH2 Moonshine Hill Road to north of Whakatiki Street speed limit consultation
