NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is reminding everyone in Canterbury and other dry parts of the country to restrict their journeys in the current high fire alert period.
Drivers on the West Coast including South Westland and the Buller Gorge will strike delays for rock scaling (rock removal) at different locations on SH6 from next week (19 February).
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising drivers that State Highway 1 has been closed between the Waipara (SH7) Junction and Greta Valley following a serious crash this morning.

A section of SH75, the Akaroa highway to Hilltop, will be down to one lane between Little River and Summit Road with temporary traffic signals in place for the installation of new road safety barrier (guardrail) from next week – 7 February.
Drivers in the lower North and upper South Islands need to brace themselves for a burst of bad weather due to hit tomorrow afternoon and evening (Friday, 2 February).
Construction will begin next week on new safety barriers that will make the Ruby Bay Bypass on State Highway 60 in Tasman a much safer route for drivers.
