SH1 Northern Motorway closures planned

Weather permitting, the closures will take place on the Northern Motorway (SH1) from 10pm Friday 12 to 5am Monday 15 September (contingency Friday 19 to Monday 22 September).

The NZ Transport Agency wishes to advise that, weather permitting, the following closures will take place on the Northern Motorway (SH1) next week:

10pm Friday 12 to 5am Monday 15 September (contingency Friday 19 to Monday 22 September):

  • Onewa Road northbound and southbound on-ramps closed for pavement works.
  • Sylvan Ave from Tarahanga Street to Onewa Road and Onewa Road from Bruce Street to the motorway will also be closed. Detours via Sylvan Avenue or Lake Road to Northcote Road Interchange ramps.

Monday 15 to Thursday 18 September:

  • All motorway lanes southbound between Northcote Road and Onewa Road closed from 10pm until 5am for bridge works.
  • Northcote Road southbound on-ramp and Esmonde Road southbound off and on-ramps will also be closed from 9.30pm. Detour via Northcote Road, Lake Road and Onewa Road southbound on ramp.
  • Onewa Road southbound on-ramp closed from 9pm until 5am for pavement works. Detour via Northcote Road southbound on-ramp. This is a contingency closure and will only take place if unforeseen circumstances delay earlier scheduled work.

If any of the contingency dates are required then all scheduled work will be reviewed to ensure no two consecutive ramps or interchanges are closed at the same time.

Motorists are advised to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in place.

The NZ Transport Agency regrets any inconvenience caused.
