Transport Agency urges care on SH2 Rimutaka Hill Road

|

The Transport Agency is advising motorists that a snowfall warning is in place for the SH2 Rimutaka Hill Road, and drivers should exercise extra care until the cold weather passes.

Regional network performance manager Mark Owen says winter roads need winter drivers.

“While the snow isn’t expected to be heavy, its presence indicates icy and potentially treacherous road conditions. So we urge people to take extra care, watch their speeds, and be really careful taking corners.

“The icy conditions could stick around until tomorrow morning, so we ask early rising commuters to remain vigilant.”

The Transport Agency advises checking its website(external link) or its @NZTAwgtn twitter feed for the latest road conditions.
