Work to reseal State Highway 1 between Napier Road and Centennial Drive on the East Taupō Arterial that was due to begin on Sunday 13 February, was postponed due to weather, and now started tonight (14 February).
Due to poor weather conditions, the work which was due to commence on Sunday 13 February, was postponed, and will now begin on Sunday 20 February and take place over two consecutive weeks.
Waka Kotahi is advising drivers to allow at least an extra 45 minutes for journeys between Featherston and Martinborough on SH53, with a detour in place around the Waihenga Bridge, which remains closed following this weekend’s flooding.

Waka Kotahi is advising motorists that work to install traffic and pedestrian signals at the Tudor and High Street intersection in Motueka starts on Monday 14 February.

Motorists travelling southbound on State Highway 1 between Tawa and Churton Park should expect overnight closures on Wednesday 9 February and Thursday 10 February, from 9pm to 4am for gantry installations.
As part of the Bay Link project, construction of the permanent road along the two central lanes on a portion of Girven Road is due to get underway next week.
