The last stage of work on improvements to State Highway 1 at Kensington Avenue, Whangarei is due to start soon so that all lanes can be opened and the new roundabout fully functional by Christmas.

Work to improve safety for all those using State Highway 14 near Whangarei Hospital was given the green light this morning with local Kaumātua and partner agencies gathering at dawn to bless the site.
Construction will begin later this year on the new Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway following today’s announcement by the NZ Transport Agency that a contract has been signed for the project to be delivered as New Zealand’s second Public Private Partnership (PPP) for a state highway, after the Transmission Gully motorway project in Wellington.
