As New Zealand adjusts to living under the red traffic light settings, road contractors remain committed to achieving significant maintenance programmes across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty state highway network.
Resurfacing work is planned for up to two weeks on State Highway 29 over the Kaimai Range. This follows similar work undertaken on a number of sections of State Highway 29 and State Highway 24 on the western side of the Kaimai Range late last year and earlier this year.

State Highway 2 will be closed during the day at Devil’s Elbow on State Highway 2, approximately 30km north of Napier, next month, while Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency contractors undertake road repair works.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has undertaken a review of speed limits along State Highway 30 (SH30) between Tikitere and Whakatāne in an effort to save lives and prevent serious injuries from crashes along this high-risk road.

People travelling on State Highway 2 between Awakeri and Tāneatua from Monday 24 January to Friday 28 January 2022 are asked to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys, due to maintenance works on the Pekatahi Bridge.
