With the increasing popularity of some social media-based taxi schemes in Dunedin, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is reminding Dunedin taxi users to prioritise their safety before accepting a cheap fare home after a night out.
From this week, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency will begin seeking feedback from communities on Banks Peninsula and Christchurch about the current speeds on the road to Akaroa, hear their concerns and tap into local knowledge.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency has announced the preferred site for the roundabout to replace the dangerous intersection of State Highway 1 and State Highway 29 at Piarere. The location will be to the north-west of the existing intersection (see map below).
One of the most anticipated, and more complex, engineering projects in the lower North Island is entering the final stretch, with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advising that work on the Peka Peka to Ōtaki Expressway (PP2Ō) is almost three-quarters complete.
