With Labour Day creating the first long weekend after winter, state highways in Auckland and Northland will be busy and the NZ Transport Agency is reminding drivers to plan ahead to avoid delays and stay safe.
The Opawa Bridge Replacement project, part of the Government’s Accelerated Regional Roading Programme announced by Prime Minister John Key and Transport Minister Simon Bridges in January 2016, has moved forward a step today.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that the Shelly Beach Road southbound off ramp from State Highway 1 (SH1) in Auckland will be closed on Tuesday night (18th), Wednesday night (19th) and Thursday night (20th) October 2016, for emergency re-surfacing works.
Drivers are advised to expect significant delays getting through Templeton west of Christchurch thismorning as the highway was earlier closed due to a crash. Given the busy time of the morning, traffic is backed up.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work will be getting underway later this month on a safety upgrade for the intersection of State Highway 1, State Highway 62 and Ferry Road at Spring Creek in Marlborough, the NZ Transport Agency has announced today.
