Painting has started on the noise walls along sections of the NZ Transport Agency's SH18 Hobsonville Deviation and SH16 Brigham Creek Extension motorway project as completion of the of the new highway takes a step closer.
The NZ Transport Agency and its partners on the Victoria Park Tunnel project "pulled" Auckland's oldest pub - the Rob Roy Hotel - the first 1.8 metres of its 44 metre-long journey back to its original site at 9.05am today.
The NZ Transport Agency says the first stage of the operation to shift the Rob Roy Hotel - one of Auckland's oldest pubs - back to its original sight opposite Victoria Park west of the city's CBD has been completed successfully.
The 125-year-old Rob Roy Hotel in Freemans Bay will be moved back to its original location tomorrow, Tuesday, and Wednesday (12 and 13 April). The move will start at approximately 7.30 am and is expected to take at least two days. Work will finish at approximately 6pm each day.
The historic Rob Roy Hotel, being protected by the NZ Transport Agency as part of the Victoria Park Tunnel project in central Auckland, will be returned next Tuesday and Wednesday (12 and 13 April) to the exact spot it was built on 125 years ago. Only now, that spot is on the roof of the motorway tunnel.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday, 15 April.
