The annual Road Controlling Authorities (RCA) results are combined to provide a national perspective on data quality performance which has informed the improvement and guidance programme.

The national results for asset management in the table below are calculated based on the number of RCAs with a metric result within the expected standard range.

The results for each financial year is based on the latest framework and metrics. Results may vary from those previously reported.

National asset management data quality results

The table below shows the annual asset management data quality results for all RCAs as reported at the end of each financial year:

Asset management data quality metric achieving the expected standard (%) 2019/20 2020/21 2021/22 2022/23 Last year change
All dimensions 62% 66% 67% 71% 4%
Accuracy 62% 65% 67% 72% 5%
Completeness 72% 78% 80% 82% 2%
Timeliness 55% 58% 57% 60% 3%

At the end of 2022/23, 71% of all RCA metrics were at the expected standard. This is a 4% improvement on 2021/22.

This is an overall improvement of +4% for 2022/23 compared to a 1% improvement last year. There have been improvements across all three quality dimensions, all three importance levels and all six data categories.

While the latest 2022/23 data quality assessment has shown continued improvement in data quality, we are reminded there is considerably more work to be done by the sector to continually move towards the expected standard.
