We installed two right-turning bays on State Highway 5 at the intersections with Maraeroa and Oturoa roads. The turning bays address ongoing concerns about safety at these intersections, by removing turning traffic from the through lanes.
We are installing two right-turning bays on State Highway 5 at the intersections with Maraeroa and Oturoa roads.
This work includes widening the existing highway to allow room for the new turning bays.

Motorists turning right will be able to wait in the turning bays until it’s safe to turn, without disrupting traffic travelling straight through.
This project is estimated for completion in May 2019. It is one of several projects planned for Rotorua to help improve safety, access and travel opportunities for residents and visitors.
