From 23 March through 24 April 2016 we asked you to help us develop the Programme Business Case (PBC). We wanted to obtain feedback about

  • the significance of two transport problems identified in the Strategic Case,
  • on three approaches we identified to solve those problems, and
  • any other approaches you wanted us to consider.

The public engagement was extensive and included:

  • Seven public information sessions
  • Displays with all materials at four regional public libraries
  • Thousands of booklets distributed around the region
  • Advertising in print, radio, and community billboards as well as media releases
  • Material for review on this website

A total of 2,114 pieces of feedback were received from individuals, stakeholders, organisations, societies and interest groups. This was a good response and we appreciated the time that people took to come and see us and put their ideas in writing.

To ensure we captured a wide range of views, we conducted a separate telephone survey. It randomly sampled 500 people, 400 in Nelson and 100 in Tasman. The questions asked were similar to the questions asked in the feedback form.

The public engagement feedback is being used, along with other factors, to inform and complete the Programme Business Case this year. It will include a recommended approach to improve transport along the arterial network between the Annesbrook and Haven Road roundabouts.

If the investigation proceeds to the next stage, there will be further opportunities for people to have their say.  This could happen later this year, depending on the outcomes of the PBC.
