Frontal impact compliance status of vehicles by vehicle make

These lists show the Class MA vehicles (passenger cars) by make and model that manufacturers have advised as meeting (or not meeting) New Zealand's frontal impact requirements. For completeness we have included some lists that were produced at the time frontal-impact legislation was being implemented in various countries, and some of these lists have not been updated since then.

Please note that the information on these lists is supplied by vehicle manufacturers, and is not exhaustive. The NZ Transport Agency has taken every reasonable precaution to ensure the accuracy of this information. Contact an entry certifier if you are in doubt about any of the information in these lists.

Frontal impact compliance status

Rover – revision 6

The table below lists the frontal impact compliance status of Class MA Rover vehicles manufactured in Great Britain in right-hand drive form.

You must read our section on importing a vehicle in conjunction with this information.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the majority of Rover vehicles built in Great Britain start with: SAX or SAR. In all cases please refer to the chart below.

If the vehicle's VIN starts with SAX the vehicle, in most cases, may not comply (refer to the chart below).

If the VIN starts with a different letter combination from SAX or SAR and is not listed on the chart below, please contact the MG Rover NZ Technical Department.

Important note:

When determining compliance it is important that the whole VIN number is checked, not just the vehicle model. For example, a Rover 800, model SAR and model code RS may comply, while a Rover 800, model SAX and model code XS, will not.

Decoding the Rover VIN

The VIN number is 17 characters long and is broken down as follows. A Rover 200 is used as an example:

VIN number SAR RF ****** 000101
Character 1 to 3 4 and 5 6 to 11 12 to 17
