With school holidays about to begin and winter weather moving across the South Island, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency encourages people driving to new places to plan and allow extra time for everyone’s safety.
With bad weather forecast for the upper South Island and Wellington region on Friday, 8 July, Waka Kotahi is urging drivers to take special care on the roads.
Saddle Road will be closed between Ashhurst and Woodville during the day on weekdays in the upcoming July school holidays, to allow essential resurfacing and maintenance work to be completed.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and Gisborne District Council have completed the most significant component of the Gisborne-wide asphalting programme, with the asphalting and resurfacing of the Gladstone Road bridge deck and replacement of the deck joints. Structural repairs to the underside of the bridge have also been completed.
