Project introduction

This project was completed in 2017. SH74 Dyers Road was realigned and widened from Metro Place to Maces Road. The work improved the safety and efficiency of this busy urban 1km section of state highway.

  • Improved road safety for all road users.
  • Improved efficiency of the route through the reduction in intersection delays and increase in the mean speed.

Project features

  • Widening of carriageway between Metro Place and Maces Road, two lane traffic remains but extra width will be used to create:
    • continuous flush median to provide allowance for turning traffic
    • designated cycle lanes both sides of carriageway.
  • Removal of deceptive ‘S’ bend section between Maces Road and Edison Place.
  • Parking and pedestrian crossing facilities near Edison Place.
  • Undergrounding of overhead utilities.
